As regards Haider Ali, only a few pages are devoted to him, the rest of the book describes and discusses the coins struck under Tipu Sultan. Offered in the book are tables of dates, gold, silver and copper coins. Following the tables are descriptions of 12 mint towns, and details of the coins issued by them. The mints are Pattan, Nagar, Faiz Hisar, Bangalur, Farrukh-yab Hisar, Kalikut, Farrukhi, Satamabad, Khaliqabad, Zafarabad, Khwurshed Sawad and Nazarbar. At the end of the book are 9 plates that illustrate 499 coins. This book is a reprint of the 1919 edition. About the Author:- John Robertson Henderson CIE FRSE FZS FLS was a Scottish zoologist who specialized in the taxonomy of marine crustaceans, particularly the decapods, and worked on specimens collected by the oceanic research vessels Investigator and Challenger. From 1892 until 1911 he was Professor of Zoology at Madras Christian College in India. From 1908 to 1920 he was Superintendent of the Government Museum in Madras. He also took an interest in numismatics and Indian history. He moved to India in 1885-86 to become a professor of Zoology at the Madras Christian College where he worked until 1911.
