Chikoo (Manilkara zapota), commonly known as sapodilla, sapote, naseberry, nispero or chicle, is a long-lived, evergreen tree. Sapota is a delicious tropical fruit that belongs to the Sapotaceae family that goes with the scientific name Manilkara zapota. It is commonly known as Chiku and it is mainly cultivated in India. It is a tropical crop, It can be grown in all types of soils. Sapota can be propagated by approach grafting. They tend to grow best when they are planted in average, moist and well-drained soil, will tolerate sandy soil, loamy soil, clay soil and moist soil. Now open the seed packet on a white sheet of paper as while opening the seeds might fall, which are not visible to naked eyes. After preparing the soil, insert the seeds into the prepared to half (0.5) inch of depth.
