The Workbook contains exercises on all the concepts discussed in the Textbook with a view to check the students' understanding of elementary General Phonetics and the Phonetics and Phonology of English. ABOUT THE AUTHOR :
T.Balasubramanian : T. Balasubramanian, a phonetician of the Edinburgh School, was taught Phonetics by eminent phoneticians like David Abercrombie, Elizabeth Uldall and John Laver. He was on the Phonetics staff of the CIEFL, Hyderabad (now re-named EFLU) between 1972 and 1978 and again during 1989-1992. He has taught Phonetics and Phonology in India, Edinburgh, Yemen and Oman. Author and editor of books and monographs, he has published widely in refereed research journals of international repute. His work on Phonetics and Phonology has been cited in their books and papers by distinguished scholars in the field like lan Maddieson (UCLA), Peter Ladefoged (UCLA), John Laver (Edinburgh) and Eleanor Keane (Oxford).
