Super Napier 20 And israel napier grass are Perennial Hybrid Napier Grass obtained by crossing Napier grass (Pennisetum purpureum) and Pearl Millet (Pennisetum glaucum). Developed by Department of Livestock, Thailand. It’s Imported Hybrid, “KING OF NAPIER” in Asia. This is very fast growth, commonly crop height ranges is 10-11 feet, it grows very tall. Farmers should take 7-8 years good yield and annually take 7-8 cuts are possible. Highly drought tolerance and suitable for Indian climatic conditions (Anywhere in India). It possesses more tillers or branches per plant, more leaves than Napier grass. It exposes 500-550 number of leaves/plant and leaf length is 115-125 cm. It can be cultivated throughout the year under irrigated conditions. Plough 2-3 times to obtain a good tilth and form ridges and furrows, the spacing recommended for 50x50 cm, requires for 12,000 slip/acre. Irrigate through the furrows and plant two-node stem cuttings (slip) per hill/one side of ridge. Give life irrigation on the third day and thereafter once in 10 days. First harvest is to be done on 75-80 days after planting and subsequent harvests at intervals of 30-40 days. The fodder has to be cut closer to the ground level for more profuse tillers. Hand weeding is done whenever necessary. Yield is 200 tons/acre/year (maintain 15 cows in one acre of land), 50-60 tons/cutting depending upon the soil. Farmer
